Welcome to Brain Hive.

This guide is meant to help school admins plan and organize everything they need to get set teachers and students to use the platform.

You should have received a 'Welcome Email' that included

  1. Post urls in convenient place for teachers and students to access

The below steps are only necessary if your school plans on using 'Named Users' as opposed to 'Generic Users'.

  1. Gather your Teacher and Student list

  2. Create separate csv (comma delemited) files for each

  3. Teachers (First,last,email,password) NO Header Row

  4. Students (First,last,login id,password) NO Header Row

  5. Import Teachers  KB: Import Teachers

  6. Import Students  KB: Import Students

  7. Teachers should be able to take it from there

Admin: Add a user (Teacher, Admin)

An admin user can add various types of users.

(**District Admins should select the school that they want to create the user for first)

  1. Click the 'Admins' tab

  2. Click 'Add User' button in upper right corner

  3. Type in First and Last Name

  4. Enter a Login ID (Teacher or Admin must be a valid email address) student must be a unique id for the school.

  5. Enter a valid password (they can change later)

  6. Select the access level

    1. Admin

    2. Teacher

    3. Generic (generic student login)

 

Admin: Import Students

This video will show you how to Import Students.

  • Prepare the CSV to Import

Column Order

First Name, Last Name,LoginID , (does NOT need to be in email format but must be UNIQUE to school) , Password,Email (optional if different from LoginID)

NO HEADER ROW

  • Click 'Admins Tab'

  • Click Add user '+' (upper right)

  • Click 'Import Students'

  • Select the CSV File

  • Click 'Begin Import'

  • Address any Import Issues

Admin: Import Teachers

This video will show you how to Import Teachers.

  • Prepare the CSV to Import Column Order

    First Name, Last Name,LoginID , (must be in email format) Password,Email (optional if different from LoginID)

  • Click 'Admins Tab'

  • Click 'Begin Import'

  • Address any Import Issues

District Admin: How to switch between schools in your district.

As a District Admin, you can switch between schools in your district and perform tasks just as if your were the 'School Admin'.

Mainly you would do this if you wanted to import users directly to the school, search their bookroom, etc...

  1. Login to Brain Hive with your District user id

  2. If this is your first time logging it you can start typing in the name of the school you would like to administer

  3. f you have already selected a school you will need to click change school icon next to the school name.

  1. Then start typing the name of the school

How to find your school specific Student viewer URL:

Some of the official school names are very common or are very long so we created a way you can link directly to your school for students.

The URL will look like:

https://viewer.digitalbookroom.com/#/login/?SchoolID=YOURSCHOOLIDHERE

Here is how to find the URL for your school :

  1. Login as a Teacher

  2. Either click or right click the icon next to your school name.

    • Clicking, will take you to the school specific URL

    • Right Clicking, on chrome, will allow you to copy the link address.

  3. You then can share that URL or put on your school website.
